Women’s Intergenerational Communication Money: How to Talk About it and Why On Thursday, October 21st, seventy women gathered at The Rhode Island Foundation for The Women’s Planning Initiative’s third event, titled Women’s Intergenerational Communication: “Money: How to Talk About it and Why.”
The need for women to become better prepared for financial security is the cause that brought together three top female professionals from leading local institutions- StrategicPoint Investment Advisors, Partridge Snow & Hahn, and The Rhode Island Foundation - to help women to make more competent, knowledgeable decisions. The event was conducted by: Betsey A. Purinton, CFP®, Deborah DiNardo, Esq. and Carol Golden.
The latest session focused on the importance and challenges of talking with family members about estate planning, gifting and investments. Attendees were encouraged to bring a female family member with them.
The Women’s Planning Initiative addressed the following questions: • Why is it so critical for women to talk about money – especially between generations? • What gets in the way? • How has the current economic environment impacted the conversation? • What are people really saying when they talk (or don’t talk) about money?
